Buloba Church Launches Five-Year “Leave No Man Behind” Programme to Empower Families

The Righteous Assembly of Christ International Church in Buloba, Wakiso District, has unveiled an ambitious five-year development programme dubbed “Leave No Man Behind,” aimed at empowering men, strengthening families, improving food security, and transforming the livelihoods of church members and pastors.

Guided by the slogan “Thriving Men, Thriving Homes,” the programme seeks to address economic and social challenges affecting many Christian families by equipping men with skills and opportunities to become responsible providers and leaders within their households.

During a study tour at the coffee farm of Dr. Robert Kikulwe in Kiryammuli, Kayunga Sub-county, Kayunga District, believers revealed that the initiative was conceived after realising that many church members were living at a subsistence level, with limited capacity to sustain their homes.

According to Associate Pastor and Group Coordinator, Apostle Stephen Kasagga, the church leadership developed the programme after observing that many congregants were struggling with food insecurity, school fees, and general economic hardship despite active participation in ministry.

Kasagga noted that the church was particularly concerned about the growing number of men who were unable to fully provide for their families due to unemployment and limited income-generating opportunities, leading in some cases to domestic conflict and strained relationships.

He emphasized that strengthening men economically is key to building stable families.

“We realized that many believers were struggling to meet basic needs. Many men wanted to take responsibility for their families but lacked opportunities and resources. As church leaders, we have a responsibility not only to feed God’s flock spiritually but also to empower them economically,” Kasagga said.

He added that the church has developed an ecosystem that enables men to support their families, fulfil their responsibilities, and remain active in ministry.

Under the programme, the church has introduced the concept of “Jesus for All Men,” encouraging members to combine Christian values with productive work, responsible leadership, and community transformation.

Kasagga explained that the church first prioritised banana cultivation as a foundation for household food security. He noted that bananas provide nutrition, support livestock farming, and ensure year-round food availability.

After addressing food security, the church identified coffee farming as a key long-term income-generating enterprise. Leaders believe coffee production can enable families to pay school fees, improve housing, and invest in other productive ventures.

“We started with bananas because no family can prosper on an empty stomach. Once food security is assured, coffee becomes the income engine that enables families to educate their children and build stable homes,” Kasagga added.

The five-year programme will also promote modern farming methods, skills development, and other income-generating activities aimed at creating self-reliant households capable of supporting family needs and church ministry.

During the study tour, participants were trained in coffee production and farm management practices to enable them to replicate the knowledge within their communities.

Church leaders expressed confidence that the initiative will strengthen marriages, reduce poverty, improve children’s access to education, and build stronger families capable of contributing to community development and church growth.

They said that by 2029, when the programme concludes, many members are expected to have established sustainable enterprises, improved household incomes, enhanced food security, and stronger family units.
